NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Thursday said they have arrested two persons for impersonation an examinee at Delhi University's Ramjas College in Maurice Nagar.

Cops added they had first registered an FIR in the case and later arrested the two accused, identified as Yeshvir Yadav and Rahul.

The matter came to light on Wednesday, when the staff at Ramjas College caught the accused Yeshvir for impersonating Rahul, who was the actual candidate for an examination of BSC Physical Electrochemistry course.

After the invigilators spotted Yeshvir and suspected him to be some one else, he was questioned and the rest of the staff present was alerted.

When several other professors reached and Yeshvir's identity was verified, it came to light that he was sitting in the exam in place of Rahul.

The University officials later confirmed it to be a case of impersonation, where the identity of the actual examinee was concealed and someone else impersonated him to appear for the exam.

It also came to light that the accused Yeshvir had changed the photograph of the actual examinee on the admit card and sat in the exam.

University officials immediately informed the cops, after which a police team arrived and questioned Yeshvir.

Yeshvir revealed that he and Rahul are good friends, and he had decided to replace Rahul for the exam to help him.

Yeshvir is a resident of Rewari in Haryana, while Rahul is a resident of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh.

“A case under sections 419, 420 and 120B has been registered at Maurice nagar Police station.” said a senior police officer on Thursday.
