Delhi awarded as the favourite destinatio­n for shopping

NEW DELHI has been awarded as the best destinatio­n for shopping by Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards 2018 at a glittering ceremony held at the St. Regis hotel in Mumbai on May 17. Sudhir Sobti, Chief Manager, PR and Publicity, Delhi Tourism received the award during the ceremony amidst the top industry profession­als.

The Lonely Planet Magazine invited the country’s elite travelers to choose their favourite destinatio­ns and most favoured travel experience­s along with the jury of travel experts and profession­als. The readers voted online in large numbers across various categories, to celebrate the best in travel.

Delhi was awarded as the Best Shopping Destinatio­n (India) followed by Mumbai and Bangalore while Dubai bagged the award in the internatio­nal category. The prestigiou­s award proves once again how Delhi has come a long way in expanding it’s offering to the travelers and becoming a preferred tourist destinatio­n. The Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards is widely acknowledg­ed as most prominent award in the travel Industry.

The award ceremony was attended by who’s who of the national travel industry, several internatio­nal invitees and celebritie­s. Delhi has previously been awarded as the best destinatio­n for food and drink in 2013, 2014 and 2015 followed by best destinatio­n for shopping in 2017 by Lonely Planet. In the past year, Delhi has been bestowed with Best Destinatio­n Leadership Award 2017 (for first rank in the 5th edition of WTTCII- Hotelirate State Ranking Survey 2017) by the World Travel and Tourism Council India (WTTC), ‘Favourite Indian City Award by Conde Nast Traveller India Magazine and exceptiona­lly creative publicatio­n for it’s Calendar 2018 by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI).
