OUT WITH POLL SLOGAN, BJP CONFIDENT OF BIGGER MANDATE

- SIMONTINI BHATTACHARJEE

NEW DELHI: The Bjp-led central government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready with its re-election slogan a full one year in advance: ‘2019 mein phir

ek baar, Modi sarkar' (In 2019, Modi government yet again).

The BJP has put together a three-minute video that shows a migrant worker going back to his village to find rapid development has taken place there. It then goes on to showcase all of the Modi government's welfare and infrastructure initiatives.

The video that ends with a tagline — ‘Saaf Niyat, Sahi Vikas' (clean intentions, right development), clearly targets the 2019 polls as it puts out the slogan that says ‘2019 mein phir ek baar, Modi sarkar', taking off from the BJP'S famous and almost viral tagline ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections — ‘Abki baar, Modi sarkar'.

The video advertisement lays out a number of this government's key initiatives. These include the rural electrification programme, ‘Saubhagya', with claims of electrifying all villages in the country, the subsidised LPG connection scheme

‘Ujjawala', ‘Unnat Jyoti' which gives affordable LEDS, the housing programme ‘PM Awaas Yojana', the opening of Jan Aushadhi stores, increased speed in rural road construction, ease in obtaining passports, and Startup India, among others.

The ad appeals to women voters by talking about an increase in maternity leave from three to six months and underlining its

‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign. The advertisement, which also talks about the bullet train, ends with visuals of PM Modi waving to enthusiastic crowds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address programmes across the country (Jharkhand, Odisha and a roadshow in Western Uttar Pradesh) to celebrate the fourth anniversary of Bjp-led NDA government.

The ruling party is confident of returning to power with a bigger mandate compared to 2014 and played down early indications that it may be up for a stiff challenge.

The BJP is hopeful of making inroads in eastern India- West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, even in the North-east, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, all 26 seats in Gujarat, 25 seats in Rajasthan and one more seat in Uttar Pradesh. "We are going to win all 26 seats from Gujarat in the Lok Sabha elections," Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani told Millennium Post.

Party chief Amit Shah has already visited 590 districts across the country.

Shah will be visiting 12 more districts in Bengal, as part of the BJP'S final push in the east.
