Suspecting Infidelity, man stabs GIRLFRIEND in Vasant Vihar

NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old gym trainer allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a traditiona­l dagger suspecting her of infidelity in southwest Delhi's Vasant Vihar. The incident took place on May 23 at around 9:30 pm. The accused and his girlfriend had an altercatio­n which soon took an ugly turn when the accused Harikant took out a dagger and stabbed the 21-year-old woman. She was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery and is now said to be stable. The man was arrested by Delhi Police.

The mother of the victim girl said that Harikant was into a relationsh­ip withe her daughter for approximat­ely five years. She said that Harikant who was a gym trainer used to visit their house often. On Wednesday night, when Harikant visited her at around 7 pm, everything seemed normal but things went berserk when he returned and asked to see her again two hours later.

“He returned at around 9:30 pm and asked to see her again. My daughter went to see him and started talking to him. Soon I heard them raising their voices, and sensing trouble I reached out to the door. I was shocked to see Harkant stabbing my daughter with a dagger in the stomach,” said the mother of the victim.

The woman was bleeding profusely. The mother also claimed that before fleeing accused Harikant also threatened her. After he fled, the family then took the girl immediatel­y to Safdarjung hospital where she was admitted with stab injuries. The family then approached the Vasant Vihar police station in South West Delhi and got an FIR registered against the accused. The cops then soon formed teams to arrest the accused and a hunt was launched. “We have registered a case for attempt to murder and arrested the accused,” said a senior police officer.
