Two bootleggers held, 89 liquor cartons seized
Delhi Police on Saturday said it arrested two bootleggers from south east Delhi in different cases, and seized 89 cartons of Haryanamanufactured liquor and a Santro Car from the possession of the two accused men.
The first arrest was made from Sarita Vihar, where liquor supplier Om Prakash, a 24-year-old resident of Madanpur Khadar, was arrested.
Cops said that 50 cartons of country-made liquor, comprising 2,500 quarters of ‘Charlie Santra’ to be sold only in Haryana were recovered from his possession.
They added that he was paid Rs, 6,000 per month to sell the liquor.
During interrogation, Om Prakash revealed to cops that he had come into contact with an experienced bootlegger Kamal, a 45-year-old resident of Jagdamba Colony in Aali Vihar.
Kamal, who has previously been involved in sale of illicit liquor, is undergoing kidney treatment at Apollo Hospital. He offered Om Prakash Rs 6,000 per month to transport liquor to various areas.
Meanwhile, in the second case, staff of Amar Colony police station in south east Delhi arrested 26-year-old Mohamad Khan, also a liquor smuggler and resident of Pul Pahalad Pur.
“39 cartons of countrymade liquor, comprising 1,950 quarters of ‘Rasbhara Santra’ to be sold in Haryana, and a Santro car used for smuggling the liquor have been seized from the accused,” said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East).
