Gurugram burglars now targetting govt schools

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

GURUGRAM: With a pass percentage of just over 50 percent, improving the education standards of government schools in Gurugram have become a major challenge for the Haryana government.

However, a more bizarre problem faced by authorities is the fact that lack of proper infrastructure in government schools is making them vulnerable to robbers.

Brazen acts of robberies are now being reported in government schools in the city.

In a high-profile of heist in the district, burglars were successful in stealing 22 computers from a government school in Gadholi, which had no security guard on duty.

Before this, there have been other attempts of heist at the other government schools, with three succecsful attempts of robbery reported from different public educational institutions in Gurugram.

In order to improve the state of education in its schools. the Haryana governemnt has purchased various computers and tablet PCS so that children can be educated digitally.

This, however, has now resulted in robbers targetting public educational institutions more rampantly.

Even though police have registered the case in the robbery of 22 computers, there have been no arrests made in any cases of burglaries reported from government schools in the district.

If robbers targeting vacant houses, vehicles and even ATM machines in Gurugram was not enough, now burglars are unabashedly targeting religious places and educational institutions.

What is of a major concern is that not only are they targeting these places of faith regularly, but even being successful at it.

Meanwhile, shortcomings has also been found among the people who manage places of worship, as they did not install CCTV cameras, despite several warning from authorities.

“Robberies have been a major law and order problem in the city. However, the biggest concern is most of these criminals are targeting houses even in the daylight and are also successful in their attempt. Because they have been successful in committing such acts, they have now turned to other places where robberies at one point could not have been even imagined,” said Roshan Lal, a city resident
