OVER 400 HELD IN KIDNAPPING CASES

NEW DELHI: For personal enmity or to make easy money, the criminals kidnapped people demanding ransom or killed them but the criminals were not able to free themselves from the clutches of Delhi Police as in 2017 and 2018 (May 15) the law enforcemen­t agency nabbed more than 400 accused involved in the kidnapping. The data accessed by

Millennium Post that in the year 2017, police arrested 337 accused whereas in the current year (till May 15) 137 persons were involved in the kidnapping. “More than 5,000 cases of kidnapping were reported in the year 2017 whereas in 2018 it was over 2,000 cases,” revealed the police data.

Over 3,000 victims were rescued in the year 2017 and in the current year 985 victims were freed. “In some cases, the victim was rescued by police whereas in some the victim safely came back,” said a police officer. The Delhi Police data of abduction cases claimed that over 600 abduction cases reported in two years. In which 142 persons were nabbed in 2017 whereas in current year 65 persons were arrested and over 300 persons were rescued.

More than 1800 children went missing in the first four months of the year 2018. On the other hand, Delhi Police claimed to have traced around 50 percent of these kids and many of them reunited with their families.

The Delhi Police data accessed by Millennium Post (till May 15) claimed that in the year 2018 out of 1812 missing children they were able to trace 954 children after they launched detailed investigat­ion in every missing case. Not only that they also arrested 85 persons for their involvemen­t in kidnapping cases.

In a recent case, Crime Branch of Delhi Police rescued a five-year-old child from the clutches of his kidnappers after a gun battle. The reason behind the crime was to get a handsome amount from the victim's father whereas in some cases personal enmity was the reason.
