NEW DELHI: Trials for undergraduate admission under the extra curricular activities (ECA) quota in Delhi University will start on Monday and continue till July 5 in two phases, namely preliminary and finals. The combined trails will be held at 13 venues in various DU colleges.

Under the ECA quota, around five per cent seats are reserved in each subject of every college in the University. Moreover, undergraduate students applying under the ECA quota are offered relaxation in the cut-off percentage of up to 15 per cent the total aggregate.

For admission under the ECA quota, aspirants are evaluated on the basis of trials as well as certificates they have acquired. For evaluation, 75 per cent weightage is accorded to trials while 25 per cent weightage is given to certificates.

An applicant must score at least 50 per cent in the trials. In case of a tie with their competitors, a higher score in the trial will be the deciding factor.

However, admission into any course is dependant on the seats available, and the University’s ECA committee will decide the allotment.

Candidates who are shortlisted for admission under ECA quota would be notified by the University.

Officials of the University shared that candidates who are performing in art trials must be prepared to perform beyond what they have prepared for the admission committee.

They added that since a lot of stress is given on ECA trials, the performance of candidates along with their knowledge of the activity would be tested and evaluated more than the certificates.

The preliminary trials, to be held each day from 9 am to 5 pm, will start on June 14 and end on June 21.

The varsity will display the final list for selected students for the final Trails on June 22 on its undergraduate admission website after 5 pm.

The final ECA trials at different centres will begin from June 25 and end on July 2, and their results would be declared on July 4 on the University’s website at 5 pm.

The varsity administration will hold the first registration and verification of original documents at concerned colleges between July 5 to July 7. The first admission list will be displayed on July 10.
