Govt gives nod to IIPA for audit of 8 hospitals
Delhi Cabinet also approves setting up of TDSF at Bawana
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet in its meeting on Thursday approved the setting up of Treatment Storage and Disposal Facilities (TSDF) at Bawana, for treatment and disposal of hazardous waste generated by common effluent treatment plant and industrial units located in the area.
The Cabinet also approved the engagement of Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) on nomination basis for third-party audit of eight autonomous institutes/society hospitals, in pursuance of the directions by Delhi High Court.
A Delhi government official said the TSDF will be developed as per provisions of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, through public-private partnership mode on build-operate-and-transfer basis, with a contract for 25 years.
“The TSDF will be spread over 14 acres of land,” the official said.
“The Cabinet also sanctioned additional grant in aid to be released by Delhi Pollution Control Committee from the Ambience Fund up to Rs 1.95 crore towards 50 per cent of the capital cost for setting up of TSDF,” he added.
With regard to the engagement of IIPA – a central government agency – for the audit of eight autonomous institutions/ society hospitals, the official said that the eight hospitals include Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi State Cancer Institute, Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, Chaudhary Braham Prakash Ayurvedic Charak Sansthan, Maulana Azad Institute Dental Sciences, and Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.
The official further said that the purpose of the audit is to point out the “deficiencies and shortcomings” and suggest remedial measures to ensure availability of clinical, diagnostic and full array of medical services these hospitals and institutions were designated to provide.
“The IIPA was considered as an appropriate agency, considering the fact that it is an established institution dealing issues of public administration and governance. One of the objectives of the Institute is to cooperate with approved institutions and bodies for the purposes of helping the cause of public administration,” the official said.
Approval of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal would be taken for engaging the IIPA, he added.
