Pink Line likely to be fully operational by December end
NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)IS all set to fully throw open the Pink Line under phase III under its expansion projects. However, further opening of the line will be done in phases, as construction the line has been delayed due to several land issues that the Corporation faced.
The Pink Line will be crisscrossing Delhi along the Outer Ring Road area, connecting North, South, East and West Delhi.
The line, which is about 58 km long and will have as many as 38 stations, will also have six interchange stations, touching almost all the existing lines of the Delhi Metro network.
The extension of the already existing Blue and Red lines will run deeper into Noida and Ghaziabad to provide better connectivity to Delhi-ncr.
According to officials in the Corporation, trial runs in both these lines have started and they are expected to be thrown open to the public by the end of the year.
Moreover, the DMRC, along with the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), will also begin Metro connectivity from the Botanical Garden metro station to Depot station in Greater Noida, criss-crossing sectors like 71, 83, 137, 147, 153 in Noida and as well as Greater Noida areas like Alpha 1, 2, Pari Chowk and Knowledge Park.
As a result, Metro connectivity will be enhanced and public transport options to Delhi will increase for residents of Noida and Greater Noida. This section will be started for public by December 2018.
Trial runs for this project, which will be called the Aqua Line, have already begun. The line will be around 29.7 km long and will be entirely elevated, having 21 stations.
According to a DMRC official, “the construction of the subway from the Dilshad Garden to the Ghaziabad Bus Adda on the red line is on the final stages. This elevated section will have eight stations with length 9.41 km.”
“Cumulative physical progress of civil works upto April2018 is 96.40 percent. The line is targeted for completion in Sept-2018 subject to land and fund availability from GDA” he added. Extension of Metro to Ballabhgarh in Violet Line is the smallest project of the Metro so far, with 3.20 km. This section is to be started for passengers by September 2018.
