Paramedic union at AIIMS demands healthcare allowance
NEW DELHI: Demanding a healthcare allowance and other facilities, around 2,500 paramedical staff of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) held a silent protest march inside the country's premier hospital on Tuesday.
The Paramedical Staff Union of Allied Healthcare Professionals, which is a joint carder of OT staff, Radiology, Dental, Pharmacy, Dietitian and Ophthalmology organised the protest. The committee's President, Rajesh Bhatti, said that they believe in peaceful protests but the hospital and health department authorities have not been paying heed to their demands.
Bhatti said the staff who are in constant touch with patients are seeking the patient care allowance. It's been more than 22 years since we have been raising the same demand. He also added that the hospital administration is supporting their demand and even Health Ministry has given its nod to their demand. But it could not implement yet. We demand our allowance at the earliest, Bhatti added. He also said that there are several issues related to our cadre but now we are demanding only two issue - HPCA and Coordination committee.
Bhatti further added that the fourth-grade staff is getting these allowance.
