FAMILY FILES COMPLAINT WITH POLICE, ALLEGES MURDER

- ABHAY SINGH

NEW DELHI: After the mysterious death of the 11 persons inside the house in North Delhi's Burari area on Sunday, the deceased's family had moved a complaint to Delhi Police alleging that it was murder, not any spiritual practice. The police will move the complaint to the Crime Branch which is investigating the case.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Vineet Kumar told the Millennium Post that the complaint was received on Monday from the relatives of the Bhatia family alleging that the 11 family members were killed. “No one was named as the accused in the complaint. We have received it and told them that they have already registered a case under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code,” said Kumar adding that they will send the complaint to Crime Branch.

The mystery of pipes found in Bhatia house remains still unsolved while the discovery of 11 iron rods in the gate of the house have emerged as another twist in the case. The police are investigating the case from all angles, but there are already murmurs of a spiritual link. Ten of the 11 members of the Bhatia family were found hanging from an iron-mesh in the ceiling, while the body of 77-year-old Narayan Devi, the head of the family, was lying on the floor in another room of the house.

The investigation in the case revealed that the family did not want to die but it was the superstitious practice which suddenly went wrong. Police said that the two registers recovered from the temple in the house had notes talking about ‘salvation', ‘badh tapasya', ‘shunya'. The investigator in the Crime Branch had ruled out the possibility of foul play in the case stating that they have not found anything in the deceased's stomach.

“During the investigation, it was found that Lalit (deceased) had delusion and he used to talk like his father who died several years ago and the family members used to write on the registers whatever he used to speak during delusion period,” said the investigators.
