LG violated SC orders by appointing Education Director, says Sisodia

- ROUSHAN ALI

NEW DELHI: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday slammed Lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal for "violating" the SC ruling by appointing the Director, Education, without informing the elected government. "Considering the apex court's order, what the LG did by appointing Director, Education, is illegal. This is a violation of the Supreme Court's order. The elected government spends 26 per cent on education but Baijal did not even bother to talk to us," Sisodia told the reporters here.

According to a new order, Soumya Gupta has been replaced by Sanjay Goyal as the Director of the Education Department. Similarly, Chanchal Yadav, who served as South DMC'S Deputy Commissioner has been shifted as Special Secretary to LG. Vasanthakumar N has been made Special Commissioner (Trade and Taxes). Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia slammed the move as "bossing around" by the LG. "LG has kept the services department with him arbitrarily and is bossing around. He should have consulted us before appointing the Education Director. Delhi government is spending 26 per cent of its budget on education and we are not even consulted on the issue," said education Minister Sisodia.

"In the education sector, even ministers from other states come to talk to us about how things should be done, but the LG says that services department is with him and he won't discuss it with (us)," he said.
