Frustrated over husband's drinking habit, wife kills him

NEW DELHI: A wife stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife after she asked him not to get home after drinking but the husband refused to follow her advice. The wife then picked up the kitchen knife and attacked her husband in the night of 9 and 10 July. However, she also sustained injuries during the scuffle and was later admitted to AIIMS Trauma centre where she is under observatio­n. Her husband died of his wounds.

The police received a PCR call at about 12:30 am at Fatehpur Berithat that a woman is injured and lying outside her house in Aya Nagar in South Delhi. The Local police reached the spot and found that the injured woman was already taken by the PCR to AIIMS Trauma Center. Her husband was found lying injured in his House in H Block, Phase VI, Aya Nagar, Delhi. He was also shifted to Trauma Center where he was declared brought dead.

The police confirmed that there have been frequent altercatio­ns between the husband and the wife. They both come from the same Village Gazol in district Manda, West Bengal. They were living at the present address for last about 3 months.

“The husband used to do paint job whereas the woman is a house wife. The husband was a habitual drunkard. In the night of incident on 9-10 July 2018, a similar altercatio­n took place between the two, which turned violent and both inflicted serious injuries on each other,” said DCP South Romil Baaniya.

The woman has been identified as Chhutki, aged about 21 years, whereas the deceased has been identified as Rana, aged 26 years.

The Delhi police has registered a case under section 304 IPC and the investigat­ion is in progress.
