-

NEW DELHI: On the spe- cial initiative of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Labour Minister Bhaiyalal Rajwade, the financial aid worth Rs 14 lakh sanctioned by Union Health Minister JP Nadda gave new life to 4-year-old Ashwin, who comes from a poor labour family of village Rampur of Koriya district.

The liver transplant surgery of Ashwin was performed on Tuesday in Institute of Liver and Biliary Science, New Delhi. Ashwin’s mother donated her liver for transplant to save life of her son.

Ashwin’s parents Sunita Sahu and Rajpal Sahu make living as daily wage labourers. They are overjoyed to see their child hale and hearty. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister had written a letter to Union Minister JP Nadda and had requested the treatment to be done for free of cost.

On Nadda’s instructions Union Health Ministry immediately sanctioned Rs 14 lakh from Rashtriy Aarogya Nidhi to the hospital for Ashwin’s liver transplant. Ashwin’s parents were hardly making their both ends meet and their child has had liver disease since birth.

When doctors told them about the need for liver transplant of their child, the couple was extremely stressed about the heavy medical expenses, as their small amount of saving had already got exhausted due to frequent trips to Delhi for Ashwin’s treatment.

Meanwhile, when Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh was on tour to Koriya district few months back, Ashwin’s parents met Dr Singh and requested for help.

Chief Minister immediately sanctioned Rs one lakh 50 thousand from Sanjeevani Kosh for initial medical examination of the child. Dr Raman Singh wrote a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda for financial aid for Ashwin’s liver transparent. In addition, Labour Minister and Baikunthpur MLA Mr. Bhaiyalal Rajwade has taken the responsibility to look after the further process of child’s treatment. Rajwade arranged for the accommodation in New Delhi for the poor family for the duration of their child’s treatment there.
