Apart from controlling crime in area falling under the metro's jurisdiction, the Delhi Police reunited more than 80 children with their parents who were separated during the metro journey in 2018. The police staffs with the help of technology and small clues like a tattoo or door to door search made kids to reach out to their parents.

In most cases, the children were reunited with their families in less than six hours when Delhi Metro Police with the cooperation of the DMRC and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) did the detailed search in case. In 2018 from January 1 to July 20, the metro police rescued more than 80 children. In one of the cases, a mentally weak boy found at metro station Barakhamba was reunited with his family in 5 hours in May. He had a tattoo on his right hand having the post office name -Manchhapra from Balia (UP). Police took the child and conducted door to door search and finally his parent was traced.

In another case, a threeyear-old boy found abandoned at Rithala Metro station in May. The boy could not even speak clearly but later through technical help, it was found that he was from Rithala village. Police took the boy with them and enquired more than 50 persons by going door to door in the houses of the village and the nearby slums. Finally, after four and a half hours, his parents were found.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Deepak Gauri stated that the metro police took quick action when they found any child abandoned or separated from the family. “If the children are found inside the metro station we check CCTV footages and also take the token number through which we traced the family and if the kids are found outside they give few clues like the name of place or shop or the Metro station and then we connect small dots to reunite them with their family,” said the DCP adding that cooperation from DMRC and CISF played an important role.
