Five arrested for triple murder in Gr Noida

GREATER NOIDA: The Gautam Budh Nagar police has arrested five men in connection with the murder of a woman and her children in Omicron 2 society of Greater Noida from Nahar Kothi bridge in Greater Noida on Monday night.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Manish (19) and Bittu Kasana (18), residents of Loni in Ghaziabad, Pravin Bhati (18), a resident of Sirsa Khanpur village in Kasna, Ankit Bhati (20), a resident of Dalelgarh village in Dankaur and Tarun Lohiya (18), a resident of Dabra village in Dadri. On July 20, police found the body of a woman identified as Manju Devi (30) with a severe head injury at her residence in Omicron 2 society. Later on July 22, they discovered the body of Krishna Kant (son) and Priyanka (daughter) in the Khetri canal of Dankaur of Greater Noida.

"The five accused were looking to flee the district. However, following a tip-off, they were arrested. During interrogat­ion, the main accused Manish, who hatched a conspiracy with four of his friends to kill the entire family, revealed that he had a personal enmity with Krishna Kant as he had wrong intentions towards his sister," said Ajay Pal Sharma, senior superinten­dent of police (Gautam Budh Nagar).

Following which the two have had some fights in the past as well. Manish called four of his friends and hatched a conspiracy to kill the entire family.

"On the night of July 19, they secretly reached the terrace of the house of Manju Devi. They waited for the family to dine and sleep and then attacked them with rods and knives. They first killed Manju and Krishan Kant. However, when they realised that Priyanka is also present in the room, they also killed her fearing that she will reveal their names to the police," said Sharma.

The accused looted the house and fled. The police have recovered the stolen items and booked the five accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal code. NEW DELHI: Soon, Delhi Police will have more personnel at its disposal as more than 3,000 new posts have been approved for the law enforcemen­t agency. In an order, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned more than 1,000 police personnel for two districts and another 2,000 policemen for the 15 police stations including eight Metro police stations.

"There will be 75 posts for Inspector rank official, 335 posts for sub-inspector (SI), 310 posts for assistant subinspect­ors (ASI), 858 posts for head constables (HC) and 1,560 for constables," the order copy claimed.

Among the new 3,000 police personnel, 45 inspec- tors, 214 SI, 208 ASI, 614 HC and 1,014 ct are for the six territoria­l, one railway and eight metro police stations.

The proposed posts would be created in four phases instead of the proposed three phases. Further creation of the posts will be considered only after the deployment of 3,139 personnel on the ground.

The remaining posts will be considered after a thorough review of the working of Delhi Police keeping in view the impact of deployment of personnel recruited in the first phase.

For this, existing police stations may be revisited for categoriza­tion and the staff strength may also be reassessed and redistribu­ted on the basis of the general norms for creation of posts. GHAZIABAD: A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Vijay Nagar of Ghaziabad. Police have arrested the accused and a case of rape has been registered against him.

According to the police, the incident was reported at around 1:30 am on Tuesday. The victim who was lured by offering candies to her was taken to a secluded place where the accused tried to rape her. The police said that the accused was known to the victim's family and used to visit them.

“Based on the complained filed, the accused was arrested from the Pratap Vihar area of Ghaziabad. A case of rape under IPC section 376 (attempt to rape) has been registered against the accused. The victim has been sent for medical examinatio­n and a probe has been launched in the matter,” said Akash Tomar, Superinten­dent of Police (city), Ghaziabad. NEW DELHI: Over 10 children fell ill after consuming midday meal in an Anganwadi in Hastsal Vihar area of Dwarka's Uttam Nagar on Tuesday.

A case has been registered and the police claimed that they are investigat­ing the case from all angles. According to the police, the mid-day meal is supplied to this Anganwadi from a self-help group located in Uttam Nagar, which reportedly supplies the meal to 30 other Anganwadi centres. On Tuesday, rice and boiled gram were supplied for the mid-day meal.

"Rice and boiled gram were served to the children and pregnant women. After consuming the food, 13 children and the helper complained of vomiting and unconsciou­sness," said a police official, adding that they were sent to DDU hospital for treatment.

The police claimed that a case under section 336 (endangerin­g life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code was registered on Tuesday afternoon. The investigat­ion is being carried out and the children are still hospitaliz­ed. So far, no arrest has been made in the case. The official further claimed that for 11 years, one Anita has been running the Anganwadi.

There are 46 children and 13 pregnant women in this Anganwadi. Helper Anita has been working there for 5-6 months. The victim children are two to ten years old and live in the Maharani Enclave area of Uttam Nagar.

Recently, over 25 girl students fell ill after consuming mid-day meal at a government school in Rohini. In another case, two girls were taken ill after having mid-day meal at a Delhi government school in East Delhi's Khichdipur in which a dead lizard was allegedly found.
