BUSINESSMA­N SHOT DEAD

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a businessma­n was shot dead by unidentifi­ed assailants in braid daylight in Ranhola of outer Delhi. According to police, four assailants came on motorbikes and fired indiscrimi­nately on 45-year-old Rajender Goyal. Goyal was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors.

“The incident was reported at around 9:15 am, in front of Kanak Banquet hall in Vikasnagar in Ranhola. He was shifted to DDU hospital but succumbed to his injuries,” said DCP, outer district, Seju Kuruvilla.

It is said that builder Goyal came to supervise the work of the banquet hall which he was building when the incident took place.

The residents of the area said that incidents like these are becoming a new normal in the area.

The Vikaspuri MLA Mahender yadav said, “There is a serious law and order problem in the area. We suspect that the attackers wanted to extort money from Lalaji. He was building this banquet hall for four years and now he has been killed. It is tragic and a serious question of the security of the people.”

Police have now formed several teams to arrest the accused. The CCTV footage from the nearby areas is being monitored. Call records of the deceased are also being scanned to find if some unknown persons gave him a call recently. Family members will also be questioned by police to know if they suspect someone.

The Delhi police is also scanning the notorious elements and gangs in the area to know if anyone of these has a hand in it.
