Promoting art and artists at NGMA
Narrating the personality and creative life of Padma Shri awardee Anjolie Ela Menon – Hindi version of the book named ‘Through the platina’ was launched at National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi on July 27.
The book was unveiled by O P Jain, Founding Director, Sanskriti Pratishthan.
Praising Menon for an illustrious career and her contribution towards Indian art, he said, “I on behalf of Sanskriti Pratishthan, want to congratulate Ela Menon. I am convinced that the Hindi translation of this book will help us take her life’s work to a wider section. I wish her all the very best for future endeavours.”
Speaking about her biography, the eminent artist said, “It feels great when your life’s work gets transformed into a book. I thank all the people who have constantly supported me all these years. I couldn’t have been where I am without their support. I hope the Hindi translation of the book inspires more and more budding artists.”
Inspiring the budding artists with her words, Anjolie said, “I want to wish them luck and I really hope that they focus on painting rather than running behind money and market. If they paint from their heart and continue doing that, success will follow them eventually. It’s not just about money, but passion.”
The event turned out to be a huge success with people ranging from students, art lovers to the general public.
Congratulating the artist on her biography launch, Ritu Sharma, Director, NGMA said, “I congratulate Anjolie for her achievements. She is certainly one of the finest artists in our country. On the occasion of the launch of her biography’s Hindi version, I take an opportunity to convey my best regards to her. I hope the Hindi translation of the book sells in big numbers and her work gets appreciated by more and more people.”
The biography of the eminent artist was launched under NGMA’S unique initiative ‘Art Adda’ – a platform where people from all walks of life unite under one roof to discuss art and culture.
Initiated by the National Gallery, ‘Art Adda’ is held on the last Friday of every month in the NGMA premises.
It not only brings art lovers, artists, teachers and experts to interact with each other but also gives an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about the impact and role of art and culture in the society.
