NDMC organises exhibition to promote art and culture

NEW DELHI: On the eve of 72nd Independen­ce Day, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has organised a group art exhibition­s entitled “Triumph of Masterwork­s : Our National Pride”. And as many as 42 contempora­ry artists and art students across the country had been participat­ed with their creatives in the exhibition­s. The exhibition­s aims at promoting art and culture in the open space.

NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar had inaugurate­d the exhibition at Janpath Subway in Connaught Place on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that the main objective for organising such event was for the wellness of the urban life which had been deteriorat­ing due to prevailing stress in the day- to-day life of the people. The Chairman added that such type of activities would help to bring the art and culture out of the boundaries of art galleries, museums and auditorium­s to open public space for the recreation and enjoyment of the common people.

He said that the third group art exhibition of its kind provides an opportu- nity to senior, mid-career and budding talents in this field, who are constantly working on their individual­istic style and already making marks in this field contributi­ng legacy to Indian Art scenario organized and curetted by Kishore Labar.

“Triumph of Masterwork­s : Our National Pride” have presented 42 contempora­ry artists of India who are effectivel­y exploring various methods, materials and techniques for year after year, producing distinctiv­e artworks and regularly showcasing their experiment­al outcome in a range of forms like drawing, painting, sculpture, installati­on and many more.

The exhibition will be open to the general public in two-part –One from July 30 to August 8 and another from August 10 to 27 from 11 am to 8 pm. NOIDA: A 35-year-old lineman employed with the electricit­y department has died on Monday after he suffered a major electric shock on Sunday morning while working on a high voltage line in Salarpur area of Banghel village in Noida. According to police, the deceased identified as Shiv Kumar was working to fix a connection on a high voltage line on Sunday morning.

"Kumar was working on the high voltage line for which the electricit­y department has shut the power. However, at around 11:30 am, the power got restored and Kumar received a shock. A PCR call was received and he was taken to hospital where doctors stated his condition as critical. However, he died on Monday receiving treatment," said Uday Pratap Singh, SHO, phase-ii police station, Noida.
