NEW DELHI: Two women who used to rob men on the pretext of seeking help or by enticing in South East Delhi were arrested by the patrolling staff from Amar Colony on August 4.

The police claimed that during the crime, they also used to threaten the victims with lodging false charges against them if they tried to report the matter to police. The accused women disclosed that in the past two-three months, they robbed around 5-6 men and fearing social stigma, the victims might not have reported the matter to the police.

The accused were identified as Sweety (24) and Muskan (25). On the day of their arrest, the ERV staff of Amar Colony police station were patrolling near Moolchand Metro Station. During the patrolling, they noticed that one person was shouting chor chor and was running behind two women. Later, the women were nabbed and the incident was found to be a case of snatching.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that the complainant stated that he was going to his home on his motorcycle and at about 9.30 pm. When he reached near Moolchand Metro Station, he was signalled by the two women who were shouting Help! Help!

When he stopped his bike, one of the women whose name was known as Muskan slapped him. He fell from the motorcycle. The second woman Sweety took out his purse and both ran away towards the Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar. “In order to earn their livelihood, the two women started robbing single men in the night. They used to allure the victim as well as seek help. When the victim came to extend his help, they would rob him,” added the DCP.
