Man arrested for raping, killing five-year-old Girl

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad police on Tuesday said that they have arrested an Ola cab driver who raped a five-year-old girl and strangled her to death on August 2 in Khora area of Ghaziabad. Police recovered child’s dead body stuffed in a plastic bag dumped on the roof of an adjacent house.

According to Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vaibhav Krishna, the girl went missing on August 2 and her parents lodged a complaint at a police station against unidentified persons. Later, the family accused their tenant, who is an Ola cab driver as he was also missing from home since the incident.

Later on August 3, police recovered the body from the roof of the adjacent house which was stuffed in a plastic bag.

“Acting on the complaint received, the police probed the matter and arrested the accused tenant from the locality on Monday night. The accused confessed to have raped and murdered the girl,” said Krishna.

The officer further informed that the accused was identified as Deepak Singh, a resident of Agra and worked as a driver for Ola and Uber cabs.

“During investigation the accused told the police that on August 2, he consumed alcohol and watched porn videos on his mobile phone which excited him. The child randomly came to his room and upon seeing her he tried to rape her but when she started crying loudly, he killed her by strangulating and wrapped the body in the bag. He later dumped the body at the roof of an adjacent house,” added Krishna.

Police had earlier said that the autopsy report also confirmed that the child was raped before being strangled.

Krishna further said that the accused has been booked under IPC sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 376 (A)(B) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
