15-yr-old rape victim gives birth in Ggn; accused at large

GURUGRAM: In another shocking case of sexual crimes against minors in Gurugram, a 15-year-old girl student gave birth to a baby girl at Civil Hospital here on Sunday after being impregnated by a neighbour who raped her multiple times.

Gurugram Police said the accused man is still at large and a rape case has been registered based on the complaint by the girl’s family, who are residents of Rajiv Nagar area.

According to the complainant, accused Rajan Tiwari first raped the girl in October 2017. He then used it as a blackmail tactic to rape her on multiple occasions.

Shockingly, neither the girl ever spoke about her exploitation nor did her family found to about it for almost a year.

However, in the last week of July, the girl’s health began to take a toll, after which she was admitted to a private hospital where it was known that she was pregnant.

“We have registered the case under relevant sections of the IPC and have begun our search for the accused. We will solve the case at the earliest,” said a senior official of Gurugram Police.

The case serves as a grim reminder about lack of safety of minors in the Millennium city, where it has been acknowledged officially that every fourth day, a sexual crime against a minor takes place.

Gurugram, along with Faridabad, are the leaders in Haryana in terms of crime against minors.
