Spree of shooting cases solved in Dadri

GREATER NOIDA: The Gautam Buddh Nagar police has arrested three persons including a minor in connection with a series of shooting incidents in Dadri in past one month. Police said that the accused shot at strangers in order to create a state of fear among the people.

According to police, the arrested persons have been identified as Abhishek (20), Manish(19)and a 14-year-old minor. Police have recovered a pistol .32 bor along with five

live cartridges, one country made gun .315mm along with 2 live cartridges, a Passion Pro motorcycle without number plate from the possession of the accused persons.

The police said that the arrest was made following a gun battle between the police party and the criminals.

"Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Dadri police station conducted search operation on

late Monday night and arrested the criminals from a secluded place near the power station in Chitthera village of Dadri, after an exchange of fire," said Ashish Shrivastav­a, Superinten­dent of Police (Rural), Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The officer further said that Abhishek, who is the mastermind of the gang, had a fight with some people of another community at a restaurant in Dadri village a couple of months ago, and in retaliatio­n, they targeted persons of that community and attacked them in order to take revenge.

"During interrogat­ion, accused Abhishek told police that a couple of months ago, some persons of another community thrashed him after a heated argument broke out between them when he had gone to eat chicken at a restaurant in Dadri.

In order to take revenge from each of them, Abhishek, along with his two friends, shot five persons one after the other on July 10, 12, 22 and on August 9," Shrivastav­a further said.

Informing about the modus operandi of the gang, the officer said that the criminals used to keep an eye on the movements of the target and upon getting the opportunit­y, they used to attack him.

However, no one died in the shooting incidents.
