Top AAP brass to reach out to Ashutosh
NEW DELHI: The AAP top brass has decided to reach out to senior leader Ashutosh who has resigned on August 15, however, the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has not accepted his resignation. The
leader who is one of the main founding members of the AAP has always kept a distance from any administerial duties.
In a setback to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), senior leader Ashutosh resigned from the party on Wednesday. The former AAP
leader cited personal reasons as the reason for his resignation.
Taking to Twitter, Ashutosh said, "Every journey has an end. My association with AAP which was beautiful/ revolutionary has also an end. I have resigned from the PARTY/ requested PAC to accept the same. It is purely from a very very personal reason. Thanks to party/ all of them who supported me throughout. thanks ." However, hours later, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal refused to accept Ashutosh's resignation saying "not in this lifetime".
According to sources, the CM along with other top leaders like Gopal Rai and Sanjay Singh would reach out to Ashutosh to convince him. Reportedly, Ashutosh was not happy with the decision of the Rajya Sabha nomination and was also offended by the choice of party. However, the leader refused to comment on any such issues with anyone and urged the media to respect his privacy. In another tweet, he requested the media to respect his privacy. "To media friends. Please respect my privacy. I won't be giving any bite of any kind. Please cooperate," Ashutosh said.
Ashutosh was a former Indian TV journalist who turned into a politician of the Aam Aadmi Party. He has served as the spokesperson of the party. He was previously associated with IBN7, of the TV18 group, as the Managing Editor. The leader contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Chandni Chowk against Kapil Sibal of Congress and Harsh Vardhan of the BJP. He garnered more votes than Kapil Sibal of the Congress but lost out to Dr. Harsh Vardhan of the BJP.
