GDA organises plantation drive on I-day
GHAZIABAD: Focusing on a green and clean environment, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) carried out a massive plantation in Madhuban Bapudham society on the occasion of 72th Independence Day.
The plantation drive was carried out in presence of Minister of Fertilizer Supply and Food Security Atul Garg, Principal Secretary Kalpana Awasthi and District Magistrate Ghaziabad and Vice Chair person of GDA Ritu Maheshwari.
“The GDA marked the day with major plantation drive and planted 72,834 saplings in Madhuban Bapudham society achieving an important milestone for Green Ghaziabad. Moreover, around 5.75 lakh plants have been planted by 15 August in different parts of the district with massive participation from citizens and officials of various public departments” said Maheshwari.
Meanwhile, the GDA continued their demolition drive on Thursday as well and demolished 3 illegal buildings/ structures in the city, that were constructed without approval and not fulfilling construction guidelines.
“The demolition drive is still underway and will be continued till we achieve the target to raze illegal construction in the city. On Thursday, the authority teams managed to bring down 3 illegal buildings across two police stations in the city. The authority has razed 52 illegally constructions in and across the district till date” said V K Singh, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the GDA.
The areas where demolitions were carried out are Niwari and Sahibabad areas.
The GDA officials said that 1 illegally constructed building, road and poles were razed in Niwari area of Ghaziabad while 2 other buildings were demolished in Sahibabad area including the illegal construction which was being carried out at the roof of houses without getting approval from the authority.
