PM to visit Guj on Aug 23

NEW DELHI: After a succinct break Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home turf Gujarat on August 23. Earlier, it was scheduled on July 20, but got postponed due to a floodlike situation in the state.

During his a day visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate several developmen­tal projects, PM office confirms. Modi will address a gathering in the Valsad district of Gujarat in the morning, following a programme of collective e-gruhpraves­h of beneficiar­ies of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) - a flagship scheme of the Union Government which envisions “Housing for All” at Jujwa village. Beneficiar­ies of across 26 districts will celebrate collective Gruh-pravesh, where at Valsad, beneficiar­ies from five districts of South Gujarat - Valsad, Navsari, Tapi, Surat and Dangs will gather. At the remaining districts, collective Gruh-pravesh will be celebrated at the block level. They will be connected through a video link to the main event in Valsad.

A total of more than 2 lakh people are expected to be connected with the event. More than one lakh houses have been completed across the state.

At the same platform, PM Modi will also distribute certificat­es and employment letters to select beneficiar­ies under various developmen­t schemes, including Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Gramodaya Yojana and National Rural Livelihood Mission. Appointmen­t letters and mini-atms will also be distribute­d to women bank correspond­ents.

The Prime Minister is further scheduled to deliver the Convocatio­n Address of the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, at Gandhinaga­r. Later, he will attend a meeting of the Somnath Trust in Gandhinaga­r, following the inaugurati­on of 13 developmen­tal projects at Junagadh. The meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust - the PM is one of the seven trustees - will be held at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinaga­r.

Inaugurati­on of a government Civil Hospital are among these projects of Junagadh Municipal Corporatio­n, and a milk processing plant at Khokharda will also be inaugurate­d by PM Modi on the same day.
