NEW DELHI: The meeting of 95 BJP national executive will be held on September 8 and 9. Earlier, the meeting of the key party body comprising senior leaders from across the country was scheduled to be held on August 18 and 19 but was called off as BJP stalwart and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s sudden demise. He died on August 16.

A party source said that there would be a special commemoration session of late BJP patriarch Vajpayee this time on the first day of the two-day session. According to the party constitution it has to be conducted in every three months in a year, however, due to the BJP president Amit Shah’s statewise `Pravas’ programme and party’s outreach programmes, the executive meeting could not be conducted in entire one year, the source added. The last NE meeting held in September 2017 in New Delhi.

This meeting is significant as executive members from across the country assemble and discuss important issues and two resolutions—political and economical resolutions are being taken.

This time it assumes significance more as of the upcoming Assembly polls in three Bjpruled states—chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan and the impending Lok Sabha elections in the coming year. However, the venue is yet to decide. On the day one, the meeting commences with the party president’s address, and it concludes with the Prime Minister’s address during the last day.
