Unsolved complaints in CM’S window continue to increase

- PIYUSH OHRIE

GURUGRAM: Set up as a mechanism to not only solve the problem of citizens but also make the Chief Minister accessible, the challenges of CM window are now coming to the fore. In Gurugram district alone, more than 229 complaints have been pending for more than three years. In what is a worrying trend, the number of grievances is only increasing with each passing year.

In 2015, 12 complaints were solved while in 2016, 15 were solved. Whereas in 2017, the number of unsolved complaints increased to 191. The list of unsolved complaints is not a problem in Gurugram but also in other parts. Gurugram, however, being the richest city in Haryana continue to lead in the number of complaints being registered in the CM window. In the past, various complaints related to corruption of public officials, encroachment of government land to even setting up of the illegal colonies have been raised in the interactive forum.

What was earlier hailed as one of the most innovative concepts to bring in transparent communication between the people and the government, have now run into various problems. According to the skeptics, the greater involvement of public officials in handling the medium is now not achieving the desired objectives.

“It is unfortunate but the Chief Minister Window has become as just another Government helpline where you give complaints and then expect it to be left to officials of either getting solved or not. There were a lot of expectations from the medium as there was a belief among the citizens that the Chief Minister will be directly involved in the project. Over the years the limitations are getting highlighted on daily basis,” said Saurabh Singh.

A high-level committee meeting is expected to be held in Panchkula where the challenges in the increase of unsolved complaints in the Chief Minister Window may be discussed. The meeting is expected to happen on August

28. Defending CM Window, senior public officials in the State Government mention that in the last three years the medium has been useful in solving thousands of complaints. Few complaints get stuck due to the complexities involved in it.
