WOMAN, FIANCE HELD FOR EX-LOVER’S MURDER

- ZAFAR ABBAS

NEW DELHI: When Delhi Police lodged the missing report of a 23-yearold Sushil Kumar, who worked in Chawri Bazaar, little did they know that the case would unravel to be a complex web of kidnapping, blackmailing, infidelity, live-in relationships and murder in one go.

Eventually, the wraps were uncovered after his ex-girlfriend 21-year-old Dolly Chowdhary and her fiance Manish Chowdhary, both residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, were arrested on Friday for the kidnapping-cum-murder of Sushil.

Cops on Saturday said that Chowdhary alias Dimple, a 21-year-old resident of Aligarh’s Pinjari village, had been in a relationship with Sushil, a resident of nearby Peeli Kalan village.

In Delhi, Sushil worked as an accountant in a shop in Chawri Bazar, and he and Dolly had been in a live-in relationship for more than five years. However, things changed when Dolly applied for a job in Greater Noida in 2016, where she met one Mohit Manvi, who offered her a job with a salary of Rs 10,000 per month.

Over time, Dolly broke up her with Sushil and became intimate with Manvi, a married man. Later, she moved in with Manvi in a rented accommodation in Greater Noida.

The news of Dolly’s new affair soon reached Sushil’s ears, who became insecure and allegedly started blackmailing Dolly with her nude pictures he had taken during their relationship.

In the meantime, after her husband’s infidelity came to her notice, Manvi’s wife committed suicide on August 7 and soon he ended his relationship with Dolly.

On August 11, Sushil went missing from Delhi and his father reached the Capital to lodge a complaint at Hauz Qazi police station, claiming that his son was kidnapped.

Investigating Sushil’s abduction, Delhi Police zeroed in on a suspicious mobile number and reached the doorsteps of Dolly in Aligarh where she made some shocking revelations.

“Dolly had conspired with her fiance Manish and called the victim Sushil to Mathura after booking a hotel. There, she mixed sedatives in Sushil’s cold drink and when he fell unconscious, she and Manish threw his boy into a river in Mathura. Both of them have been arrested for the kidnapping-cum-murder and have confessed to their crime,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) MS Randhawa.
