HUDA City Centre set to be revamped

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

GURUGRAM: HUDA City Centre is the largest metro station and its central location has made it one of the busiest stretches in Gurugram.

Taking cognizance of the chock-o-block traffic at the busy stretch, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has drawn a blueprint to make it a decongested zone. The officials plan to solve the problem both in terms of technology as well as making changes in the road design.

To begin with, the GMDA plans to install a smart parking

lot to make a separate parking area for autos and other forms of public transportation. The

lack of effective parking space has resulted in most of the autos and buses crowding a major part of the land that causes traffic blockade.

There are also plans to use smart technology that will be taken from the Japanese company. Under this model, based on the traffic density, the technology will provide information to the officials at the control room. Based on this informa- tion, the traffic can then be managed accordingly

Moreover, there are also plans to use the satellite technology where in addition with HUDA City Centre other areas of the city will be monitored.

As there are various points of connectivity through the HUDA City Centre, there are plans to change the alignment of the road design so that the traffic can move not only conveniently but also safely. It should be noted that besides being one of the busiest stretches, HUDA City Centre is also one of the most unsafe stretches.
