700 cops in N Delhi ensured peaceful polls

NEW DELHI: Under the heightened security, the voting held for Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections on Wednesday. Police claimed that they did not receive any complaints of violence and made sure that the voters cast their votes without any fear.

According to police, around 700 police personnel were on the street in North Delhi. The deployment has started in the morning. “Last night an emergency team was on the round to make sure nothing untoward incident happens,” said the police officer. As the morning progresses the police team started to deploy on the roads connecting to the Delhi University. “Strategic locations were identified before the election where the security was height- ened and also at all the exit points policemen were keeping the close tab,” said the police officer. DCP (North) Nupur Prasad stated that they did not receive any complaints and made sure that the election goes violence free. The DCP herself was on the street and checking the arrangemen­ts regularly make sure no untoward incident took place.
