Sex workers to be sensitised about Anti-traffickin­g Bill

NEW DELHI: In order to curb the menace of human traffickin­g, the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) will soon sensitise the sex workers in GB road area about the new Anti-traffickin­g Bill.

The child rights body claimed that the trafficker­s always change their modus operandi for the modern day slavery. Roop Sudesh Vimal from DCPCR told the Millennium Post that the sex workers will be made aware of the contents in the bill. The main aim behind the initiative is to inform that human traffickin­g is crime and if any girl is forcibly taken to the brothels, they should inform the agencies about the crime.

“The most distressed child is the victim of human traffickin­g as they face several kinds of trauma,” said Vimal. The commission has a welfare plan so that the children of sex workers can have a good life in terms of education and health. According to the DCPCR official, they are preparing a concept note.

Talking about the menace of human traffickin­g, an official claimed that during their investigat­ion they have found several modus operandi being used by the trafficker­s like the pretext of marriage, job and love.

“One such modus operandi is that the trafficker­s lure the girl on different pretexts and make her board a train for another state. On the other hand, the trafficker informs his associates in another state about the colour of clothes worn by the girl. The girl is trafficked the moment she gets off the train,” added the official.

One such Telangana girl who was rescue by the child rights body with the help of an NGO Mission Mukti Foundation from New Delhi. Another modus operandi is the use of small and unknown railway stations where the security is less.
