Revision of remunerati­on of guest teachers approved

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Education Department's proposal for revision in the rates of remunerati­on of the miscellane­ous category of guest teachers.

"The Department has proposed that the rate of daily remunerati­on for Miscellane­ous Category guest teachers brought at per with Trained Graduate Teachers (with CTET qualificat­ion) guest teachers, i.e. enhanced from Rs 1,050 to Rs 1,403 per day, prospectiv­ely. Thereafter, it would be submitted to Lieutenant Governor for approval, the Competent Authority in this regard," said an official.

He added that Directorat­e of Education has been engaging guest teachers since 2010, as a stop-gap arrangemen­t against regular posts lying vacant/pending finalisati­on of direct recruitmen­t by DSSSB or short-term vacancies caused due to Child Care Leave (CCL), Maternity Leave etc in the academic interest of the students.

"A committee had been constitute­d by the Deputy CM to examine the request of Dilli Atithi Shikshak Sangh regarding the revision of the remunerati­on of Guest Teachers engaged in government schools under the Directorat­e of Education and submit its recommenda­tions. The committee was headed by Principal Secretary (Finance) with Secretary (Education) and Special Secretary (Services) as members," said the official.

The Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Department to empower School Management Committees (SMCS) by renaming and restructur­ing Vidyalaya Kalyan Samitis as SMCS.

It also approved that the allocation of funds shall be delinked from the building in-charge concept and will be linked to the enrollment of students of the school.

"The fund requiremen­t for this revamped scheme will be met from the budget head SMC Fund and an amount of Rs 56 crore has been proposed for the current financial year," the official added.

The Cabinet further decided that the School Developmen­t Plan should form the basis for the implementa­tion of SMC related programmes/ initiative­s.
