NDMC organises Cleanlines­s DRIVE At 20 religious places

NEW DELHI: On the fourth day of the ‘Swachhta-hi-sewa Pakhwada' on Tuesday, the New Delhi Municipal Council undertook a special sanitation drive at 20 religious places.

These include Greta Bhawan Temple at Bengali market, Auliya mosque at Minto Road, Church of North India, Dargah at BK Dutt Colony, Masjid Abdul Kalam in Connaught Place, Masjid at KG Marg, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Rakabganj Gurudwara, Sanatandha­ram Mandir, Aliganj Mandir and Hanuman Mandir.

Caretakers of temples, gurudwaras, churches and mosques participat­ed in the sanitation drive, along with the team of NDMC safai sevaks. As many as over 2,000 safai sevaks participat­ed in the drive.

For transforma­tion of religious places and their surroundin­g, the NDMC work force carried out an intensive sanitation drive all around and nearby these religious places of New Delhi area.

Special emphasis was laid on sweeping, washing, cleanlines­s and removal of garbage, malba/dibries, horticultu­re/ floral waste, unauthoris­ed encroachme­nt in an around the religious places.

The heads of these places of worship assured the Council that they would extend their active participat­ion and cooperatio­n in the ‘Swachhta-hiSewa Pakhwada' to make the NDMC area neat and clean.

Besides, the NDMC work force spread awareness amongst people about cleanlines­s, with the help of informativ­e and educationa­l material distributi­on, nukkad natak, and poster/slogan competitio­ns.
