Wanted gangster shot dead in Ggn encounter
GURUGRAM: Bhanwar Singh, notoriously known as the dreaded gangster Bhoo Dev (god of the land), was shot dead by Gurugram Police in a daylight encounter in Manesar on Tuesday.
Police said that Singh was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest and was wanted for the murder of one Ishwar Singh, who worked as a patwari in Haryana government.
On August 14, Ishwar Singh was gunned down after he had gone to ascertain how much of the government land in Manesar was being encroached.
The encounter of the 30-year-old gangster was carried out by a Crime Branch
team of Palam Vihar, who had received a tip-off of Singh being at Manesar.
According to sources in the police, at the time of the encounter, Singh and his friend Kaalu were enjoying drinks in a rented room at Sehrawan village in Manesar.
After knowing that the police had found out his location and were in the process of arresting him, Singh started firing at the law enforcement officials.
This started a process of exchange of firing from both the sides and eventually led to Bhawar getting seriously injured. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment by cops, but he eventually succumbed due to his injuries.
Singh had received gunshot wounds in the chest, abdomen and the neck. The encounter was a challenging endeavour for the police team, as the site of the encounter was close to a polytechnic college which is still functional.
Bhawar Singh's criminal record is another sordid tale of a youngster from well to do family in Haryana turning to criminal activities for money and power.
Fond of an expensive lifestyle, the 30-year-old had often been photographed with his AK-47 gun. He was also fond of SUVS and had bought a fleet of vehicles. In sports, he was also fond of horse riding and boxing.
Having started his journey into the world of crime through abductions and burglaries, Singh quickly changed track and got involved in grabbing of land in the outskirts of Gurugram
