Man held for raping neighbour in Greater Noida’s Dankaur

GREATER NOIDA: A man in his late 20s has been arrested for allegedly trying to rape a seven-year-old girl of his neighbourh­ood in Dankaur area of Greater Noida.

Police said that the incident took place on Monday night inside a primary school in locality.

According to police, the incident took place around 8 pm on Monday.

The accused Bablu, who lives in same locality, lured the girl with chocolates and took her to a nearby primary school where he tried to undress her.

The girl raised an alarm when he allegedly tried to rape her.

“Hearing the girl's cries for help, the residents rushed to the spot. The accused fled away. Residents later informed victim's parents that their daughter has been found in a suspicious condition, who made a PCR call and a case was registered,” said police officials.

“The man was arrested on Tuesday morning from his house. The accused confessed to have sexually assaulted the girl” said Farmood Ali Pundeer, Station house officer, Dankaur police station, adding that the girl was sent to district hospital to get the medical examinatio­n done.

The officer further added that the accused was arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 376, 511 (attempt to rape) and 5/6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

He was sent to judicial custody after producing before a duty magistrate's court.
