IGL to take over execution of Muzaffarnagar PNG, CNG projects
NEW DELHI: Indraprastha Gas Limited on Tuesday announced it will execute the Muzaffarnagar City Gas Distribution Project, aimed at providing supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) in the district.
The announcement was made by Dr Sanjiv Balyan, MP, Muzaffarnagar, in the presence of managing director ES Ranganathan and director (commercial) Rajiv Sikka of IGL.
Ranganathan informed that the process of planning the project has already started and a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared.
He added that IGL is targeting to start supply of environment friendly CNG in the city by setting up its first CNG filling station within one year, subject to receipt of permissions from statutory authorities.
He further announced plans to bring convenience of piped gas to the city and connecting the first kitchen in the city with PNG supply within a year.
Subsequently, the project will be executed to provide a comfortable fuelling experience to a majority of residents of the region.
As per minimum work programme commitment given by IGL to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, there are plans to set up at least five CNG filling stations and provide PNG connections to over 10,500 domestic kitchens in Muzaffarnagar in the next couple of years.
