Woman thrashed by cop’s son: Accused quizzed

NEW DELHI: In the case of a viral video, which showed an incident where three men brutally thrashed a woman, Delhi Police on Tuesday questioned the three men involved, including the main accused identified as ‘Tomar', who is seen conspicuou­sly hitting the woman in the video.

Police sources claimed that they also visited the place of incident, the call centre, where the incident took place.

Meanwhile, West Delhi Police questioned the suspended assistant sub-inspector in the case.

Sources also claimed that three accused Rohit Tomar, Ali Hasan and Rajesh were asked about the sequence of event in the case.

“Tomar was the man who assaulted the woman, whereas Ali was the owner of call centre and Rajesh was an onlooker,” police were quoted as saying.

On Tuesday, the city police also visited the spot of the incident and collected evidence in the case.

The father of Rohit Tomar, Ashok, who was suspended from Delhi Police on Monday, was also questioned in the case. He was asked whether he tried to threaten the girl and her family.

The policeman's son was seen brutally thrashing a woman in a video, which had gone viral, and he was arrested on Friday after being charged with rape and criminal intimidati­on in two separate cases, police said here.

The arrest of Rohit Tomar, 21, took place hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that the video has come to his notice and he has directed Delhi Police Commission­er Amulya Patnaik to take necessary actions in the matter.
