SAIL staff win 30% Vishwakarm­a Rashtriya Puraskar for 2016

NEW DELHI: Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has won more than 30 per cent prestigiou­s Vishwakarm­a Rashtriya Puraskar (VRP) for the performanc­e year 2016. On Tuesday, in a function held at SCOPE Complex, Delhi, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) SAIL Saraswati Prasad felicitate­d SAIL employees who have won 9 out of the total 28 VRP awards.

Out of the total 139 awardees, 48 awardees are from SAIL. On this occasion Director (Finance) Anil Chaudhary, Director (Projects & Business Planning) Dr. G. Vishawakar­ma, Director Commercial Soma Mondal, Director (Personnel) Atul Srivastava, Director (Technical) H N Rai were also present.

Before this, yesterday Hon'ble Minister of State, Labour & Employment (Inde- pendent Charge), Govt. of India Santosh Kumar Gangwar felicitate­d the awardees in a function organized at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Internatio­nal Centre, New Delhi. These awards were announced on13 August, 2018.

Out of total 48 awardees of SAIL, 42 belong to SAIL'S Bhilai Steel Plant and the rest 6 are from SAIL'S Salem Steel Plant.

Estimated savings from these award winning projects/ suggestion­s is approximat­ely Rs 14.6 Cr. per annum as recur- ring and around Rs 10.8 crore as one time.

CMD SAIL congratula­ted the awardees for their efforts and achievemen­ts. On this occasion he said, "These awards are not won by only employees but also by their families, because any achievemen­t of any person is a mirror of their family's support and dedication."

He further added, “These awards reflect the work culture of the SAIL. I feel very happy to be part of all of you.”
