Were ONGC fake job racketeers misusing govt offices since 2015?
NEW DELHI: Were government offices in the Capital being misused since 2015 for conducting fake interviews?
This is the most vital angle from which Delhi Police is investigating the case where it arrested seven people for running a fake jobs racket in the city.
The role of the accused in two more job rackets is being probed.
The investigating agency claimed that apart from government offices, the gang used five-star hotels to conduct meetings with the prospective targets.
On Tuesday, police officials said they had busted a gang involved in a racket offering fake jobs at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The accused conducted interviews
at Krishi Bhawan.
Police sources told Millennium Post that in 2015, they found some leads indicating that the same gang might be involved in a job racket in Maharastra.
Cops are also checking the gang’s involvement in the Food Corporation of India (FCI) recruitment scam.
“It is being investigated if they used government offices in Delhi for the interviews. The accused might have changed their names in the other two rackets,” said a police source.
In their modus operandi, the accused used to wear a suit and tie and converse in fluent English with their victims.
Apart from government offices, they also met the victims in five-star hotels to gain their trust.
The arrests were made by a team of the Inter Border Gangs Investigation Squad (IGIS) of the Crime Branch.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Bhisham Singh stated that in the current racket, the accused duped 20 youth of several lakhs of rupees.
Sources said the accused only gave 15 minutes for every fake interview in government offices to avoid suspicion.
Of the seven accused, two were employees of the Ministry of Rural Development. There is also a possibility that the racket has more victims, said cops.
