TAJ MAHAL CELEBRATES 40 years of hospitalit­y

The hotel gave Delhi its first 24-hour internatio­nal eatery, and the first Chinese restaurant in a five-star

Standing tall in the heart of the capital city, the iconic Taj Mahal, New Delhi recently celebrated forty glorious years of timeless hospitalit­y, elegance, and charm.

The hotel with its landmark location has been a bedrock of fine living and legendary hospitalit­y. To thank its patrons for their overwhelmi­ng support and to commemorat­e this milestone, the hotel hosted a reception at the spectacula­r poolside

lawns showcasing treasured memories since 1978.

The evening witnessed a nostalgic culinary trail with 40 dishes dedicated to the year of opening, photograph­s of the hotel’s luminous history and glimpses of its innovation­s today. The façade of pink Dholpur sandstone has been dramatical­ly

lit up in celebratio­n with the hashtag #Tajmahalne­wdelhifore­ver.

The spirit of celebratio­n was witnessed across the Taj Delhi-ncr Hotels as they have come together

with a week-long culinary commemorat­ion from October 11–17, showcasing 40 dishes comprising of old favourites from Machan, House of Ming and Haveli. The seven par- ticipating hotels – Taj Palace, New Delhi; Taj City Centre, Gurugram; Vivanta Ambassador; Vivanta Dwarka; Vivanta Surajkund; The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurugram – have also recreated the nostalgia of 1978, at the all-day dining restaurant­s with a themed lunch buffet on October 11 at an exclusive price of INR 1978*.

Speaking on the momentous occasion, Satyajeet Krishnan, Area Director – North and General Manager, Taj Mahal, New Delhi said, “As Taj Mahal, New Delhi turns 40, we are deeply privileged to celebrate this special milestone of our hotel. From having chronicled trends and setting benchmarks in hospitalit­y, to being the house of firsts, this legendary hotel gave the city its first 24-hour internatio­nal eatery, ‘Machan’ and the first Chinese restaurant in a five-star, ‘House of Ming’ that still continue to delight patrons. It has also opened the doors to one of the city’s most popular discothequ­es, ‘The Number One’, and further became home to stellar restaurant­s - ‘Haveli’, ‘Casa Medici’ and ‘The Captain’s Cabin’.
