ROBOWARS BEGINS AT ‘GRAVITAS’
Daniel Chuburu, Ambassador for Argentina to India inaugurated the event on October 13
VELLORE: ‘Robowars’, one of the most popular and key events at gravitas ‘18, the annual threeday technical and management festival and knowledge carnival at Vellore Institute of Technology began on Saturday. The event that witnesses the designing of humanoid robots in one the largest robot fighting championship event in India with the largest robot fighting arena in South India, was inaugurated by Daniel Chuburu, Ambassador for Argentina to India.
Over 15,000 students from more than 125 universities and colleges are taking part in the three-day event that serves as a platform for students of engineering and technology and management to demonstrate their talent. Robowars is among the 125 plus events that are being held as part of gravitas ‘18. Chuburu inaugurated the event in the presence of Vice Chancellor Anand A Samuel, Pro Vice-chancellor S Narayanan and Devendra Kumar, gravitas Convenor.
Student teams from 26 technical institutions took part in Robowars. The robots designed by them were on display and students gave a briefing about their technical aspects. Another attraction of gravitas ‘18 is RC Baja, an inter-college design competition organised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Teams from over 15 institutions all over India, including National Institutes of Technology, Anna University, S.R.M. University and VIT among others took part in the competition and displayed the race car models they had designed on their own.
At the Technology Tower, Daniel Chuburu himself took part in a workshop on ‘water resources’. In the workshop, he spoke on the topic ‘Conservation of Natural Resources for Agriculture Production’ along with K Raja, Scientist at Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Udhagamandalam.
