Govt to probe if DSSSB exam had alleged casteist questions

- OUR CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI: A recent examination of Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) allegedly had some casteist questions for the teacher selection test that took place recently. The Delhi government is likely to take cognizance of such complaints and investigate the matter, said a source in the Delhi government.

“The recent examination had some questions on Chamars which means dalit but it's a wrong way of projecting the question then it was present in the paper. There has also been an alleged comparison of Chamar with the Pandit, which is a very casteiest way to put forward any question,” said a source in the government. The source added that the reports of such questions have been raised to the social welfare department and minister Rajendra Pal Gautam will

look into the matter.

“If such questions were present in an official paper prepared by the service department then it's a matter of great concern. Our government has zero tolerance for any kind of casteist remarks or stand. I will investigate the matter in my

level and meet the Chief Secretary to inquire the matter too. Thereafter the appropriate steps would be taken,” said Gautam.

The service department is not under the Delhi government but under the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal. Despite the direction from the Supreme Court, the LG rejected to transfer the department to the Delhi government earlier this year based on a notification by the Centre. Following this, the Delhi government moved the Supreme Court again to challenge the notification and urged the apex court to give the services department to the Delhi government. Meanwhile, the officials did not comment on the question paper and also rejected any agenda behind such questions. The social welfare department released the statement on Sunday after getting the complaints.
