Dwarka dacoity: Cops hunt for five men, including mastermind
NEW DELHI: Five teams of Delhi Police are raiding locations across Delhi and two other states to nab five men involved in the dacoity and murder of a cashier in a bank in Dwarka district's Chhawla on Friday.
Cops claim that apart from the six men, who were captured in CCTV footage, the name of another culprit – who masterminded the dacoity – cropped during the interrogation of the two arrested accused Sachin and Parvesh.
Police sources claimed that the mastermind, believed to be a local, was somewhere nearby the bank when the other six men went in and looted it.
"Raids are going on in Delhi and other states to nab the criminals," added an investigator, adding that cops are also looking into whether the accused wanted to target other banks in the city.
"So far, we have not found anything. The accused had conducted recce a few days ago before they committed the crime," said the investigator, adding that the accused had also made an escape plan, but two were nabbed.
Sources futher said that the accused had thought that the bank would contain a large amount of money, but they could only around Rs three
lakh.
Efforts of a team formed under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police Madhup Tiwari and led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse had
led to Saturday's arrests. The team scanned footage of over a dozen CCTV cameras and conducted raids at several places, after which Sachin and Parvesh, both 19, were arrested.
Last Friday afternoon, six masked men had entered a bank in Chhawla and shot dead the cashier Satish Kumar.
