Fake jobs in Territorial Army: Over 80 village youth duped

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on October 11 arrested a man from Haridwar, who masterminded the fake Indian Territorial Army recruitment racket, where more than 80 persons from rural areas of Haryana were cheated.

Cops claimed they have also found the gang's links in other states, including Jharkhand, Haryana, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, which is under investigation.

An investigator said that the accused Yogender has been active for the last two to three years, and used meet prospective victims posing as senior government official.

"We earlier busted this gang in May year and arrested five persons, but the mastermind Yogender had been absconding," an investigator said.

His modus operandi involved a ‘chain system', where after meeting some unemployed youths in villages and luring them with job offers, he would convince them of pass his message to their relatives who are in search of jobs too.

"Many job aspirants, through his message, came into contact with the accused and later got duped," the investigator added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ram Gopal Naik said that in Delhi, the victims were subjected to fake medcal tests at Army grounds and fake medical examination at the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment area.

Similarly, fake interviews of the victims were also conducted by the accused in Delhi Cantonment, after which forged 'Appointment or Joining Letters' were issued to the victims asking them to come to distant places in the Cantonment area.

Over time, the victims end up realising that they have been cheated.
