VIT may have the solution to a major environmental disaster
NEW DELHI: Over the centuries, we have seen humans exploiting nature's natural resources without conscience. And what was more disturbing was the fact that we have been repaying this inconsolable debt with more exploitation, pollution, deforestation and so many man-made environmental disasters.
The realisation of the consequences of this gross debasement of nature's gifts came late, and only after nature decided to retaliate with climatic shifts, hazardous smog, and so much more. It is said that we reap what we sow and the current environmental disasters are a true testament to this.
We humans had decided to label nature's way of retaliation as ‘Global Warming' and we, more or less, account every recent environmental disaster to this phenomenon. This ‘global warming' is a very underrated and encompasses so many side effects disasters of its own.
And this is the reason we hold international summits and conferences to decide on how to tackle this issue from the root.
Another major phenomenon that has been witnessed over the last few decades is the explosion of technology and technological advancements. The debate about whether this inflation is a boon or a bane is something of a stalemate.
But one thing that can be said is that with what all we have, have discovered and invented, we have an opportunity to make things better for the future and even reverse and combat the disasters that we have instigated.
One such tool that has been worthy of great discussion is ‘Genetic Engineering'.
