GURUGRAM: Despite efforts by the Haryana government, advancement in public transportation does not seem to be picking up pace in Gurugram.

To improve public transport infrastructure in the city, the state government had recently introduced 23 stateof-the-art of buses, under the Gurugaman project.

Still in its initial stages, the bus service is yet to cover prominent parts of Gurugram

As a result, most residents still rely on private modes of transport to reach their destinations.

Though Gurugram has access to different public transport mediums, namely Delhi Metro, Rapid Metro and local bus, these do not cover many parts of the city, especially Old Gurugram.

As a result, these mediums are mostly inadequate for citizens and working professionals in the Millennium City.

With few options at their disposal, Gurugram residents still rely on private modes of transportation, such as diesel autos and local private buses. Over 30,000 autos are currently plying all over the city, of which around 15,000 are shared diesel autos.

The presence of a large number of diesel autos is a major source of pollution in Gurugram. To tackle this menace, authorities have introduced e-rickshaws to phase out the diesel autos.
