Man blinds neighbour in one eye for courting his sister

NOIDA: A 22-year-old man was left blinded in one eye after he was stabbed by his neighbor in JJ colony in Sector-9 area of Noida, police said on Sunday.

Shailendra Kumar, an employee with a private company, was attacked on October 17 in his house by a neighbour, said police, adding that the neighbour attacked Kumar a knife on the face.

In addition to losing vision in his right eye, Kumar will also be left with a huge permanent scar on his face because of severe wounds near his left eye, said officials.

“On the afternoon of October 17, Anand Rajbhar alias Pankaj knocked the victim’s door. As both were known to each other, Kumar opened the door, after which Pankaj attacked him with a knife in his eyes and face and fled away,” read the police complaint.

The victim was immediatel­y rushed to nearby hospital, from where he was referred to ALIMS in Delhi. Following the incident, police arrested the Rajbhar and sent him to jail after producing him before a court.

“Prima facie, it appears to be the fallout of old personal enmity. It also came to light that the victim was into a relationsh­ip with accused’s sister, which used to bother him. We have arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The victim received severe injuries in both of his eyes and lost his sight in his right eye after the knife penetrated it,” said Manoj Pant, station house officer, Sector-20 police station.
