Man shot at after argument in cricket game turns violent

GURUGRAM: Gun violence was reported once again from the Millennium City on Sunday afternoon after a man was shot at in the stomach during a brawl in a cricket match.

Police said that victim Rajesh has been admitted to a private hospital in Manesar, where he is condition is said to be stable.

The incident occurred at Nahrpur village, where Rajesh and his friends were playing cricket.

A argument between the two teams playing suddenly turned violent, resulting in one of the players getting into a fist fight shot Rajesh and later firing at him.

No arrests have yet been made in the case, but law enforcemen­t officials said they have identified the culprits and started a search operation to get hold of them.

Investigat­ors further said that even though the firing seemingly took place in a fit of rage, the possibilit­y of it being a pre-planned attack is also being investigat­ed.

They added that Rajesh’s family members claimed that he did not have any personal enmity with any of the accused.

“We have filed the case under the Arms Act and attempt to murder, and will soon get a hold of those involved in the act. The fact that a gun was brought to the field also highlights that the players may have been involved in criminal activities,” said an official from Gurugram police

In the past, incidents of stray violence have even resulted in loss of lives.
